Paddy Power pay out early

THE outcome of this week's match has already been declared as a European victory by bookmakers Paddy Power. The company has paid out more than £100,000 to punters who backed Colin Montgomerie's side before midnight on Sunday to win at Celtic Manor this weekend.

"At 4-6, Europe are far from a penalty kick but we're getting behind Monty's lads and we're happy to line the pockets of all those who have put their faith in the boys in blue," said a spokesman for Paddy Power.

Told of the payout, Montgomerie said he felt Paddy Power had jumped the gun and is predicting a closely-fought match in Wales. "I wouldn't go with that statement at all," said the Scot. "I think these matches are extremely close and that's great for the Ryder Cup."
